Another tale of missed chances proving costly for K's Academy
Aldershot Town defeated Kingstonian Academy 5-0 in a game which could have been closer if K's had taken some of their missed chances.
The K’s created several good chances in the first half. Josh Johnson had the first of these when he screwed his shot wide following good work down the left flank from Nash Doukoure. Johnson had a better chance when he was sent clear on a one on one situation against Aldershot keeper, James Cundy, but his shot was saved. Taylor Green tested Cundy from range and Billy Simmonds had a shot scrambled off the line, but the K’s were unable to score.
Their hosts managed two goals in the first half. The first came in the 8th minute when Gavin Long made an unchecked run into the K’s penalty area to convert a cross from the left.
Aldershot’s second came five minutes before half time when Ryan Davis drove a crisp low shot past Reice Hinds.
Sam Gillett went close on two occasions for the hosts. He was denied by Hinds for the first chance, whilst he fired narrowly wide of the far post for the second.
Half time: 2-0
The K’s crafted a great move and chance in the 50th minute. Jay Bush started the move with a pass to Nash Doukoure. Having dummied his marker, Doukoure then exchanged passes with Rmarni Blankson before firing a shot wide of the goal.
Sam Gillett then took advantage of some defensive indecision in the K’s defence to tap home a simple third goal for his side in the 54th minute.
The dangerous Gillett struck the post shortly after, before scoring his side’s fourth goal in the 66th minute finishing off a slick passing move.
Rmarni Blankson went close on a couple of occasions and Taylor Green whipped in some dangerous crosses into the Aldershot penalty area, but the K’s were unable to find that elusive goal.
With four minutes remaining, Aldershot scored their fifth goal through Luke Williams, who headed home a corner from Eoin Kirwan.
