K's Academy beat the Beavers

Bruno Morais’ stoppage time strike ensured the K’s Academy recorded their fourth victory of the season.

In the opening half-an hour of the game, both sides had shots on target. K’s keeper, Reice Hinds, kept out shots from Simon Mulumba and Ryan Ward, whilst Jack Gould did likewise for Hampton making saves from Jozirio Salvador and Nash Doukoure. However, the best chance in this period fell to Taylor Green, who ran on to Rmarni Blankson’s through ball, but struck his shot straight at Gould.

Hampton opened the scoring in the 35th minute when a misunderstanding within the K’s defence allowed an unmarked Hero Ehni to apply a finishing touch to a free kick.

The K’s levelled the scores two minutes before the break. Thomas Hourigan played a ball in behind the Hampton defence for Eugene Hogan-Morgan to run on to. The K’s striker won a block tackle with the onrushing Hampton keeper, and then despite the presence of a covering defender, held his nerve to stroke the ball into the empty net.

Half time: 1-1

The K’s took the lead in the 55th minute through Telmo Santos. The defender notched his eighth goal of the season when he dispatched a firm header past the keeper from Taylor Green’s corner.

The K’s had further chances to build on their lead. Blankson, Green and Bent all shot wide, whilst Morais had a shot saved.

The Beavers also threatened as an attacking force as they strove to get back on level terms. There were one or two nervy moments at the heart of the K’s defence but they held firm. Hampton did go close to an equaliser with four minutes remaining but Reice Hinds did well to keep out the effort from Ward with his legs.

The K’s finally secured the victory as the game ran into added time. Hogan-Morgan and Blankson combined to set up Bruno Morais, who made no mistake with a crisp finish from outside the penalty area.
