Leigh Dynan column from tonight's programme

9 months ago By Kingstonian FC

If tonight's game was on, here's what you could have read in the programme insert...

Good evening and welcome to everyone connected with Merstham FC. It was disappointing to lose this game to the weather on Boxing Day, so I'm just hoping that the same thing doesn't happen again this evening.

Saturday afternoon against Tooting and Mitcham proved extremely frustrating. Both teams tried hard to play football on what must have been one of the heaviest pitches that the players have ever played on. I was massively disappointed by the result, more so as Tooting were, at the time, bottom of the table. We just have to beat teams around and below us and to do this we must convert our chances.

On Saturday we had five chances that went begging. Two of these chances fell to Louie Theophanous when one on one with their goalkeeper - on another day he would have snaffled these chances up. Andre also spurned a chance when put through by Victor Fundi, then Victor missed a ball across the face of the goal.

However, I knew it was not going to be our day when Andrew Musungu's shot, after battling his way through the Tooting and Mitcham defence, went passed the goalkeeper and stopped in a puddle on the line to be subsequently cleared!

I have to re-iterate that we are a better team than the result suggests. We go again tonight in our quest for three more points and a move up the league.

On the player front I've managed to secure the services of Nic Ciardini, a player I have worked with at Farnborough. I also hope to have more news on the loan arrangements with Louie and Leo in the next few days!
