Wingate and Finchley 3-1 Kingstonian

Wingate & Finchley

Kingstonian's perfect record comes to an end in North London.

Wingate and Finchley defied the 20-place difference between the two teams to defeat league leaders Kingstonian, and so inflicted their visitors' first loss of the 2021-22 campaign.

Bilal Sayoud opened the scoring with a fine free kick in the 22nd minute before the Blues doubled their lead on the stroke of half time with a Sam Hatton penalty.

Kingstonian improved in the second half, but could only get one back with a 71st minute Gus Sow penalty kick. Sayoud then completed the win for the home side with a breakaway goal in the 90th minute. Wingate and Finchley finished with ten men as forward Ibrahim Meite was sent off in second half injury time, but by then the result was assured.

Kingstonian remain top of the table after a late East Thurrock United equaliser denied Folkestone Invicta a win and three points, but K's will need to show that they can come back after a bad night at the office when Horsham are the visitors on Saturday for a tough Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie.
