Kingstonian FC can announce the departure of Elliott Buchanan
Kingstonian FC have announced the departure of Elliott Buchanan to Farnborough. We can confirm that Elliott has received the offer from the Southern League club of an FA contract, which runs until May 2023. Regretfully, as much as the club values Elliott, we were not in a position to match Farnborough's offer.
"We are disappointed to lose Elliott but wish him every success," said manager Hayden Bird. "Farnborough have offered Elliott an FA contract until the end of next season. Quite honestly, it's an excellent offer for a player of thirty-two. As disappointed as we are, we understand his reasons for moving on. I'd like to thank Elliott and wish him every success."
On looking ahead to Saturday's game, Hayden was upbeat. "The squad have had a very good week. Our friendly at Cobham (a 1-0 win with Alfie Young scoring the goal) was very beneficial and the boys followed this up with an excellent training session on Thursday. Nyren, Alex and Teo are all fit, Julian is settling in very well and the confidence is growing."
"Of course we wanted Elliott to stay but we respect his reasons. Equally, Walter has had another week in training and is looking sharper while Daniel can now return to the role where he was so effective at the start of the campaign! The spirit in the squad is upbeat, the team is focused on returning to winning ways and ending the season with a string of good results."
Hayden also confirmed that he will hold a "Meet the Manager on Zoom" on Friday 18th March at 7.45pm. "I think it's important to speak directly to our supporters. I'm sure that they will be concerned at recent results and will be asking what's happened. Therefore, on Friday night, myself and the players will gladly provide an insight to the last few weeks and outline our objectives for the rest of the season."
Details of Friday's meeting will be announced on Monday.
