Metropolitan Police 5-3 Kingstonian
Goals fly in from all angles as K's give everything but eventually fall to hosts Metropolitan Police.
Kingstonian went out of the Surrey Senior Cup after a 3-5 defeat by Metropolitan Police, but not before one back of a battle.
The goalfest began in the third minute when the hosts took advantage of defensive uncertainty, allowing Jack Mazzone to score his first of the night. The advantage was doubled in the 16th minute in a similar fashion as Max Blackmore was the beneficiary of more defensive miscommunication.
But the K's fought back, and after a sensational comeback, they led at the break. Firstly, Delano Sam-Yorke headed in after 19 minutes, then Aaron Lamont lit up Imber Court with a thunderbolt from distance two minutes later. Then with two minutes remaining in the half, debutant Gökhan Can got past the home defence and deftly curled the ball home.
Metropolitan Police adjusted superbly at half time and took control in the second half with three similar goals, all crosses into the box that the K's could not deal with. Jack Mazzone for his second in the 55th minute, and then Max Blackmore completed his hat trick in the 57th and 63rd minutes.
K's battled hard for the rest of the game but couldn't get their fourth goal that might have made for an interesting finish. Instead, the home side saw the game out and now can look forward to the short trip to Walton Casuals to decide which Southern League team will reach the final.
