Merstham 1-2 Kingstonian

Kingstonian

K's get their first away win of the campaign, but not without causing themselves some stress.

A well-played first half saw visitors Kingstonian lead at the break 2-0 at Merstham thanks to goals at either end of the half. The opener came after four minutes when Harry Osborne was left alone at a corner and was able to head the ball home unchallenged at the near post.

Kingstonian doubled the lead with a fine goal in the 39th minute when Corie Andrews was freed down the right wing, placed a pinpoint cross into the box, allowing the onrushing Elliott Buchanan to score his second goal in two games.

The second half proved to be far more stressful, and K's were the creators of their own problems in the 66th minute when they were dispossessed inside their own penalty area whilst playing the ball around the back, and before they could recover, Calvin Ekpiteta had smashed the ball into the net. Most of the rest of the game saw Merstham press hard for an equaliser, but ultimately the visitors were able to see the game out and claim all three points.

K's are next in action on Saturday at home to Hornchurch for a 3pm kick-off at King George's Field - tickets can be bought online at https://kingstonianfc.ktckts.com/
