Macclesfield Town 0-4 Kingstonian
K's move into Round Two of the Emirates FA Cup with an outstanding performance over a young Macclesfield Town team.
There was only one piece of certainty surrounding this Emirates FA Cup First Round tie, and that was that manager Hayden Bird and his fine group of coaches would get their squad of players so very ready for their tie at Moss Rose today against Macclesfield Town, regardless of who would wear the blue shirts of the Silkmen.
A brave, young Macclesfield team took the field to play against the K's this afternoon, and were immediately put under severe pressure. In the seventh minute, the K's took the lead when a magnificent long pass from goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey found Dan Hector down the left, he cut inside at full pace and slammed the ball home past goalkeeper Owen Evans.
The lead doubled just four minutes later when Hector turned from scorer to provider, allowing Louie Theophanous to score his first of the afternoon. K's kept up the pressure throughout that first half, only allowing the hosts some extended pressure just before the break.
Kingstonian came out of the traps flying again in the second half and just two minutes in, Dan Bennett was on hand to prod the ball home after a previous shot hit the post. Finally, in the 69th minute, Louie capped off his fine afternoon (though let's face it, everyone in a K's shirt had a fine afternoon) with his second goal and Kingstonian's fourth.
K's can now look forward to the Second Round draw (ed: this feels ever more surreal), which will be made live on BBC2 from Chichester City's ground, the programme will start at 7.00pm - Kingstonian will be ball number 35.
