Kingstonian 8-1 Oxhey Jets

Kingstonian

Job done.

Kingstonian moved into the Second Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup with an 8-1 victory in their replay against Spartan South Midlands Premier Division side Oxhey Jets.

For much of the first half, Oxhey Jets threatened to make this game just as uncomfortable as the 2-2 draw on Saturday, but, after wasting a number of chances, Kingstonian finally took the lead in the 43rd minute thanks to a shot from close range by Gus Sow that took a couple of bounces and went into the net.

The second half saw the weather go berserk with heavy rain, thunder and lightning, and goals aplenty hit the back of the net as well. K's flew at the start of the second stanza, with Daniel Ajakaiye scoring in the 47th and 50th minutes to give the home side a 3-0 lead. Sean Giordmaina took advantage of a collective defensive faux pas in the 52nd minute to bring his team back into the contest, but Kingstonian were relentless. In the 61st minute, the referee ruled that Daniel Ajakaiye had been fouled in the area, with Jason Banton then converting a normally-taken penalty.

Ajakaiye completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute before being replaced by Elliott Buchanan, who promptly scored in the 77th and 85th minutes. Rhys Murrell-Williamson finished the scoring off as the clock ticked over to 90 minutes, and K's can now look forward to facing Horsham on 18th September at King George's Field.

In the face of what has been a crazy few days for them, the Oxhey Jets were an absolute credit to their shirts and to the Spartan South Midlands League, and we wish them well for the rest of the season.
