Kingstonian 4-1 Merstham
K's get back to winning ways after a good second half keeps the hoops top of the league.
Kingstonian won their sixth league game in seven outings with a 4-1 victory over Merstham.
A first half not noted for its excitement suddenly saw some quality football in the 30th minute when Daniel Ajakaiye scored his eighth goal of the season with a fine finish after a fine through ball from Nyren Clunis. However, Merstham were back on level terms when nobody touched Chace Jacquart's cross in the box, the ball quietly hit the far post and went in (the former K's player tradition kicking in again...).
K's were much better in the second half and in the 56th minute Oliie Cook was left alone in the six yard box and gave his team the lead again, and the contest was won when Ollie got his second goal in the 83rd minute. When K's won a penalty in second half injury time, there was no room for sentiment as Cook was not allowed to claim a hat-trick, instead normal penalty taker Gus Sow did the job and blasted the ball into the roof of the net.
Kingstonian next face familiar foes in the Hornets from Horsham, they will be hoping it's third time lucky on Wednesday evening, kick-off at King George's Field will be 7.45pm.
