Kingstonian 2-1 Cray Wanderers
Two penalties and an Elliott Buchanan worldie decide a close and exciting game.
Kingstonian defeated Cray Wanderers 2-1 after an exciting and even game that could easily have gone either way.
The home side led at the break from a 22nd minute by Gus Sow, converted in the normal emphatic manner after Daniel Ajakaiye was felled in the box. Both sides had excellent chances to score the next goal, but it was the Wands who got it, again from the spot, this time in the 55th minute when Anthony Cook picked himself off the floor after being fouled by Simon Cooper and the Cray man sent Rob Tolfrey the other way.
The game was won in the 72nd minute with a goal so special that people sitting in the stands got up out of their seats for an ovation to a wonderful piece of skill by Elliott Buchanan. K's went forward on another foray, Elliott Buchanan picked up possession, seemed to have taken the ball too far, but, as he started to go away from goal, quick as a flash from 20 yards out he executed the most exquisite of lobs just millimeters over the despairing jump of Cray keeper Jack Turner and millimeters below the crossbar. It was a goal of ultimate wow-ness.
Both teams searched frantically for a goal in the closing minutes but Kingstonian stayed strong and saw this close and fun game out to claim a vital three points.
