Kingstonian 2-1 Carshalton Athletic
K's victorious in battle with the Robins
Kingstonian scored their first win of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Carshalton Athletic.
The K's had to overcome an injury to Rob Tolfrey in the 34th minute, who was eventually forced off the pitch after a high challenge by Gus Sow left the Kingstonian number one with an ankle injury. Mac Chisholm would make his Kingstonian debut and would go on to make a number of good saves.
K's took the lead in the 40th minute with a fine goal from Dwight Pascal, beating his defender to an excellent cross from Louis Collins, diverting the ball past Robins' keeper Liam Beach.
Kingstonian doubled the lead six minutes into the second half when Fumnaya Shomotun was given too much space on the edge of the penalty area, and he passed the ball into the back of the net from 18 yards out.
Carshalton were never out of the contest and immediately went on the offensive in search of getting one back and then maybe an equaliser. Quest number one was accomplished in the 69th minute when a back header from Crossley Lema from a free-kick beat everyone and gave the Robins hope. Despite more pressure from the visitors, the K's were good enough to keep disciplined and held on to claim their first victory of the new campaign.
K's are next in action on Saturday when they visit Sevenoaks Town in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round, kick-off is at 3.00pm. Our under 18s are in action on Wednesday when they visit Ash United for an FA Youth Cup Preliminary Round tie, kicking-off at 7.30pm.
