Kingstonian 1-2 Potters Bar Town

Potters Bar Town

K's disappoint in defeat to the Scholars

Kingstonian blew a chance to keep pace in the play-off race as Potters Bar Town deservedly beat the home side 2-1 at King George's Field.

K's actually started the game very well indeed, but they didn't heed the warnings of a missed open goal in the 12th minute when a minute later Joe Boachie's long range shot dipped under the bar to give the Scholars the lead.

Kingstonian huffed and puffed through most of the rest of the first half and were pleased to have equalised in the 39th minute when Jerry Puemo headed home a near post corner.

However, the second half was, certainly for home supporters, not wonderful viewing as a disjointed Kingstonian team "enjoyed" plenty of possession but did very little with it, and in a way it was no surprise when a Potters Bar counter attack was converted by a fine shot from Jaden Sharman, who beat Rob Tolfrey at his near post in the 67th minute.

The game was a tetchy and bad-tempered one, as K's allowed themselves to be frustrated by the referee, the opposition and themselves and did not look like scoring until second half injury time, which saw Elliott Buchanan denied an equaliser by the offside flag and then, with the last kick of the game, the post, but in truth Potters Bar deserved their victory and K's will need to up their game significantly on Wednesday if they are to get a positive result against Corinthian-Casuals.
