Kingstonian 1-0 Haringey Borough

Kingstonian

K's win at home on opening day for the first time since 2006.

With manager Hayden Bird serving game one of a four-match stadium ban, Jamie Howell's Kingstonian have opened the 2021-22 season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Haringey Borough at King George's Field.

The win gave the K's their first opening day victory since defeating Blllericay Town 1-0 in 2017, and first home opening day victory since a 2-0 win at Kingsmeadow over Ashford Town (Kent) in 2007.

The single goal came from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, a spot kick awarded when Jason Benton was fouled just inside the area. Captain-for-the-day Gus Sow stepped up and put the ball past Haringey keeper Jonathan Miles. The visitors were never out of the contest, and pressed for an equaliser in what was a tense finale for the game, but K's held strong and claimed the three points.

Kingstonian will next be away to Bishop's Stortford, kick-off next Saturday will be 3.00pm - should you wish to use the Supporters' Club Coach, please e-mail supporters@kingstonian.com
