Kingstonian 1-0 Bognor Regis Town
K's get three points all in one afternoon.
Kingstonian gained their first win in the Isthmian League Premier Division since Tuesday 25th January with a 1-0 victory over Bognor Regis Town at a sunny, but very windy King George's Field.
Strangely, both halves saw the team playing into the wind look the better side, with the Rocks enjoying most of the possession in the first half. This possession saw them create a number of chances, with Nathan Odonkonyero hitting the woodwork twice and having a goal disallowed. Julian Schwarzer in goal for Kingstonian made several outstanding saves in the first stanza to keep the Rocks at bay and the teams turned around at half-time still goalless.
When a team is desperate to end a poor run of results, a bit of luck is often needed to be the catalyst to put a stop to such runs, a lucky bounce here, a deflection there, anything will do. In the 47th minute, K's got their winner when a cross from the right came into the box and was put into his own net by the unfortunate Joe Dandy, who had to do something to try and clear as Walter Figueira was right behind waiting to do the job himself.
K's were good enough to keep the score the same, and, once three minutes of added time ticked by, the relief at the final whistle was obvious. The home side will be hoping to keep the positive momentum going on Wednesday when Bowers and Pitsea are the visitors for a 7.45pm kick-off.
