Kingston Young Carers: A Developing Partnership

Two more Young Carers Days at KGF during the 2019-20 season.
Kingstonian are again to hold two Young Carers Days in the 2019/20 season at King George’s Field organised in partnership with Kingston Carers Network. These will be fixed as soon as the fixture list is released by the league. These will follow on from five very successful days held so far at Kingsmeadow, Leatherhead and then KGF.
During this time around £2300 has been raised by Ks fans for fun activities for Young Carers. This has included donations in memory of John McCormack and a 50% share of the proceeds of the Supporters Club’s Walk through History. In addition to this we have provided food and soft drinks for our guests and gift vouchers from Banquet Records.
Kingstonian Youth are now adding to this by providing free football fun and coaching sessions for young carers at their Dinton Field Ground. The first of these was on 30 May and was attended by 20 Young Carers aged 8 to 12.
This was a real quality event; supported by no less than four youth team coaches. The Young Carers were given a medal for participating and a little Kingstonian Teddy. Diane White; the Young Carers Project’s manager said that the event had been much better than sessions they had previously had organised and paid for at Goals in Tolworth. The young carers certainly had a really great time.
It is very pleasing that Kingstonian Youth have kindly offered to host further sessions for Young Carers and the next of these will be on Tuesday 6 August; again at Dinton Field. The football session will be from 11 to 12.30 followed by lunch (provided by funding from Magic Radio).
The address is Dinton Field. St Agatha's Drive Kingston upon Thames KT2 5JT.
This initiative will help deepen and strengthen the partnership between Kingstonian FC and Kingston Carers Network and complement our young carers days at King George’s Field. This is a valuable spin off from Kingstonian Youth having their own base at Dinton Field.
Kingstonian Youth Chairman Stephen Drewett has also given us 25 mixed sizes of Ks shirts and shorts to give to young carers when they are being mascots at our Young Carers Days.
