Hornchurch 2-1 Kingstonian

Hornchurch

A frustrating afternoon as the Urchins take advantage of defensive issues to win the game.

Kingstonian's unbeaten run came to an end at the Hornchurch Stadium as they fell to a 1-2 defeat at the hands of the current FA Trophy holders.

It was a frustrating result as the two teams were well matched throughout the game and the visitors will be disappointed not to have gained a point.

K's had the better of the beginning of the first half, but the Urchins took the lead in the 15th minute when a viciously curled corner was not dealt with as Simon Cooper was credited with having knocked the ball over the line.

The home side then went on to dominate much of the rest of the first half, so naturally it was Kingstonian who scored an equaliser in the 36th minute when Daniel Ajakaiye's strike finished off a quick counter attack.

The second half saw both teams search for a potential winner, Kingstonian thought they had the go-ahead goal when Elliott Buchanan scored in the 72nd minute, but the assistant referee had quickly flagged for offside. Three minutes later, it was Hornchurch who did take the lead when Rob Tolfrey was unable to hold on to a shot, allowing Tom Wraight to pounce and place the ball home. At the start of second half added time, Daniel Ajakaiye had the ball in the net again, but for the second time Kingstonian joy was wiped out by an offside flag. Five minutes of added time elapsed and Hornchurch were able to celebrate an important win whilst Kingstonian could immediately put their focus towards Tuesday and the visit to Potters Bar Town.
