Dorking Wanderers 3-2 Kingstonian

Kingstonian

Pre-season begins with a highly competitive defeat against the reigning Isthmian League Champions.

Kingstonian's first match of the 2019 pre-season produced a highly competitive fixture against Dorking Wanderers at the Meadowbank.

Dan Bennett gave Kingstonian an early lead in the 17th minute with a beautiful free kick from just outside the penalty area. K's had chances to double the lead but found Slavomir Huk to be in his usual good form between the Wanderers' sticks.

The hosts turned the game around late in the first half when a good run down the right by David Ray ended with the ball being crossed into the area for Elliott Buchanan to head home at close range in the 32nd minute. Six minutes later, Dorking took the lead thanks to a curling shot from the edge of the area by Tom Richards.

The second half saw the usual stampede of substitutions for both teams, and it was a Dorking substitute that gave them a 3-1 lead when Jason Prior scored a 62nd minute penalty past substitute K's goalkeeper Amadou Tangara.

However, in the 69th minute, the visitors got one back when a cross from the last was nicely headed home by Dan Thompson. K's worked hard to find an equaliser, but in the end an entertaining and hard fought pre-season match ended in a 3-2 victory for Dorking Wanderers.

K's are next in action on Tuesday night, away to Walton Casuals. Kick-off is at 7.45pm, and our hosts are not charging any entrance fee.
