Cheshunt 3-2 Kingstonian
Red cards, penalties, a comeback but defeat for the K's at Cheshunt.
Both Kingstonian and Cheshunt scored with penalties and ultimately had one man sent off, but it was the Ambers who took all the points after a game that the K's feel that they should have had at least something positive come out of this game.
Cheshunt flew out of the traps early and took the lead in the fourth minute through former K's man Taylor Miles who scored with a fine finish. K's were aggrieved ten minutes later when Tom Kavanagh was adjudged to have fouled a Cheshunt man in the box - former K's man (this is a pattern) Reece Beckles-Richards stepped up and doubled the Ambers' lead.
Unlike last season's contest, which saw a similar quick start for the Ambers but not a lot in return from the visitors, Kingstonian fought back and levelled things up. Firstly, in the 16th minute, some excellent work from Juevan Spencer ended with Elliott Buchanan reducing the arrears, and then in the 20th minute Tom Kavanagh scored from the penalty spot after Tom Richards' cross was blocked by a hand.
The start of the second half saw K's be unfortunate not to take the lead when a Buchanan free-kick hit the bar, but the game turned on its head when Fabio Saraiva received a straight red card in the 58th minute for a foul. Ambers' substitute Anderson Pinto scored the winning goal in the 79th minute before getting himself booked twice and from the 84th minute it was 10 vs 10, but K's ultimately left the Cheshunt Stadium very disappointed not to have taken at least one point from this game.
K's are next in action next Saturday when they visit Maldon and Tiptree in what should be a cracking FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round tie, kicking off at 3.00pm.
