Cheshunt 3-1 Kingstonian

Cheshunt

K's brought down to earth by Ambers on a disappointing afternoon in Hertfordshire.

Kingstonian fell to their first defeat in the Isthmian League Premier Division since 23rd October as a disappointing first half ensured that they would leave Cheshunt empty handed.

A free kick carelessly given away led to former K's man Ryan Moss opening the scoring for the Ambers in the 6th minute, when his shot hit the net from twenty yards out as he found a gap between the wall and the near post.

Cheshunt doubled their lead in the 19th minute when some slack defending saw the ball only half cleared and headed into an empty net by Amadou Kassarate.

The first half ended disastrously for the visitors in added time when Dan Bennett was shown a straight red card for dissent, leaving the K's with a mountain to climb in the second half.

Another former Kingstonian man, Reece Beckles-Richards finished off a nice move in the 62nd minute. Kingstonian did get what ultimately became a consolation goal thanks to a fine finish in the 77th minute from Louie Theophanous and the hoops did for a short time threaten a grandstand finish, but it wasn't to be and the Ambers eventually secured a deserved victory.

K's will need to be better next time out when they host Leamington next Saturday for their Second Round tie in the Buildbase FA Trophy.
