Carshalton Athletic 1-0 Kingstonian

K's fall to a second half penalty at Colston Avenue.
Kingstonian had the opportunity to move into second place with victory away at Colston Avenue, but in a tough game against Peter Adeniyi's Carshalton Athletic team, they were forced to suffer a single goal defeat at the hands (wings?) of the Robins.
The first half was an even affair, not completely devoid of goal scoring opportunities for both teams, but level at the break was the right score line.
Ks' best chance in the second half came through a Kenny Beaney long range effort from a different postcode that only just went wide of the left hand post. However, the game turned on its head in the 68th minute when Jerry Puemo was penalised, arguably very harshly, for handball as he blocked a shot at close range but inside the area. To Kingstonian's annoyance, but Carshalton Athletic's delight, the referee pointed straight to the penalty spot. After lengthy protestations, Lewis White put the ball on the spot in the 69th minute and placed his shot wide of Serine Sanneh's right hand and into the net.
And that was just about that - Kingstonian tried hard to haul themselves back into the contest, but Carshalton's defence was strong and barely allowed their visitors a clear cut chance. On the other hand, the Robins tried to pounce on the counter but were unable to put the game away. After four minutes of added time, the final whistle was blown and Kingstonian were on the end of their first defeat of the calendar year.
After two very difficult games in three days, the Kingstonian players will deserve their rest and will hope to go again this coming Saturday when Wingate & Finchley are the visitors to King George's Field for a 3pm kick-off.
