Aldershot Town 2-1 Kingstonian

The Shots advance in the FA Trophy whilst K's think about what could've been.
Kingstonian's involvement in this season's Buildbase FA Trophy is over after a valiant 1-2 defeat at the EBB Stadium against National League side Aldershot Town.
K's were beaten in cruel fashion after an excellent first half saw the visitors deservedly lead from a 38th minute Daniel Ajakiaye flick header. Kingstonian nearly doubled the lead very early in the second half when a Jason Banton shot hit the post with Ajakaiye only just not being able to deal with the rebound, but then it went wrong.
Firstly in the 53rd minute an Ollie Cook clearance under pressure from Shots forward man Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong hit the home team's man and flew into the net. Eight minutes later Simon Cooper stretched to deny an Aldershot breakaway and succeeded in lifting a what-would-have-been-a-lovely-lob-if-it-were-at-the-other-end over Rob Tolfrey and into the net.
K's did their best to try and get back into the contest and never gave up on the task for a single second, but ultimately to no avail and it will be Aldershot Town's name in the hat for Monday's Fourth Round draw.
With emotions still raw several hours after the game, K's can be proud of how they performed and frustrated at today's end result but can look back with satisfaction at four afternoons of fun in the 2021-22 edition of the FA Trophy.
