Carshalton Athletic report

Carshalton Athletic gained a deserved home victory after defeating a disjointed Kingstonian team with all the goals being scored in the first half.

The visitors started the game strongly and took the lead in the 13th minute when Iker Noguera Leon robbed a defender of possession down the right wing and centred the ball to David Lopes. As defenders started backing away, Lopes unleashed an unstoppable strike from the edge of the penalty area and Kingstonian led.

The lead lasted seven minutes as the Robins took advantage of some disappointing defending as the K's lost the ball in a bad area, allowing Carshalton to sweep into the penalty area, with finally the Robins' centre forward sidestepping a defender and firing home from about 20 yards out.

Kingstonian were the architects of their own demise again in the 26th minutes when the home side were given possession in midfield, some quick passing found them inside the area, the ball was squared and converted past Shay Honey.

The scoring was completed in the 38th minute with Carshalton taking full advantage of poor defending yet again - a long throw from the left was allowed to bounce in the penalty area, the K's defence hesitated en masse with the Carshalton forward once again accepting the present and fired the ball home from close range past a bemused and frustrated Kingstonian goalkeeper.

Kingstonian needed to score early in the second half to allow themselves to begin to haul themselves back into the contest, but, despite plenty of possession, they rarely came close to doing so. The Robins were able to keep the K's at arm's reach during a second half of few chances, good organisation from Carshalton and lots of frustration from Kingstonian. After four minutes of added time, the final whistle went, Carshalton fully deserved their win whilst Kingstonian will have to regroup quickly in preparation for a big game at home to Woking on Wednesday at Molesey FC, meanwhile the Combined Counties League team have a big game themselves on Monday night when they visit Manorcroft United at Bedfont Sports FC.
