Bishop's Stortford match report
match report by Simon Grier.
A fourth manager and a fourth almost completely new set of players, but still Kingstonian have only two league wins in 2019 as a 3-0 home defeat to Bishop's Stortford heaped further disappointment on their beleaguered fanbase.
Hayden Bird said Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Hornchurch was "embarrassing" but this performance was no better, with Ks creating nothing until the game was already gone at 3-0.
The first half was quiet as both sides battled stifling hot weather. The closest either came in the first 40 minutes was when Frederick Burbridge had to claw a deflected Sean Clohessy cross out of his own goalmouth, as neither side managed to create chances. But on 42 minutes Shormari Barnwell beat Rob Tolfrey with a turning shot after a cross from the left and the visitors went in ahead.
After the interval the Hertfordshire side were much the stronger. Tolfrey did well to save a powerful effort from Johnville Renee but Renee made it two on 56 minutes, converting from close range after Benjamin Worman had powered his way through the Ks defence.
Tolfrey was by far Ks' best player and made two more fine saves, from a fierce Worman drive and a Ryan Henshaw header. But Worman got his third on 79 minutes, finding the top corner with a fine strike from the angle of the penalty area.
Ks had struggled to create all game, hitting far too many balls long which Mark Haines was easily able to clear. In the final ten minutes they finally had a couple of chances to make the score more respectable but Calum Davies shot wide and Burbridge beat out Youssef Bamba's near post effort before bravely gathering Clohessy's cross on the rebound. Kingstonian's almost impossibly bad 2019 continues.
