K's Academy lose final match to Terrors
Kingstonian's Academy were beaten 3-1 by Tooting and Mitcham United in a good competitive match played in windy conditions.
Unseasonably cold weather greeted these two teams for their final league match of the season.
Tooting had a couple of early chances with Jamal Robinson-Davids and Dennis Asante going close. In reply for the K’s, Taylor Green had a 25-yard shot pushed away by Tooting keeper Chris Davies.
Tooting took the lead in the 19th minute when Chester Clothier curled a shot through a crowd of players that squeezed inside the far post.
The K’s had a fine opportunity to draw level in the 27th minute. Eugene Hogan-Morgan was sent clear in behind the Tooting defence but he was unable to beat Davies with his shot.
Having survived that scare, Tooting then launched an immediate counter attack which culminated in Dennis Asante scoring their second goal.
The K’s fought back, and Eugene Hogan-Morgan won a penalty after he was fouled by Elliott Blake-Degale. Rmarni Blankson hit the 37th minute penalty past Davies to reduce the arrears.
Tooting regained their two-goal advantage two minutes before half time. Isaiah Jones consolidated his position as the division’s top scorer, by striking a spectacular long range effort over Reice Hinds.
Half time: 1-3
The K’s doggedly stuck to their task in the second half, but were unable to find a way back into the match.
There were no goals in the second half. The K’s did have some chances, but their finishing was generally wayward, although Nash Doukoure did test Davies late on.
Jamal Robinson-Davids had Tooting’s best chance in the second half when he fired over the bar when well placed.
