K's shot down by Spitfires
The K’s Academy made the long trip to Eastleigh in vain as they were comfortably beaten 7-0.
The K’s competed well in the opening twenty minutes and Eastleigh struggled to create any worthwhile chances. Having defended well for this period it was disappointing that Eastleigh should take the lead in the 22nd minute through poor marking. Aaron Lobb was allowed a free header when he met a free kick inside the penalty area and he placed his effort past Reice Hinds.
Jordan Beeke should have increased the lead two minutes later when he blasted the ball over the bar when well placed. Despite further chances for Eastleigh from Callum Baughan and Callum Read, the K’s were defending doggedly and they were keeping their opponents at bay.
As the half progressed, the K’s started to come more into the game as an attacking force, and they went close to scoring on two occasions in quick succession. The first of these came in the 38th minute when a penetrating pass from Bruno Morais found Josh Johnson, whose low shot was tipped around the post by Jacob Powell in the Eastleigh goal. The K’s went close again a minute later through a Bruno Morais effort which struck the bar.
Just when it seemed the K’s were in the ascendency they were undone by two goals just before half time. An unmarked Jordan Beeke took advantage of a mistake in the K’s defence to slot home a 41st minute goal for his side and this was followed two minutes later when Jack Adams drilled a low shot past Hinds.
Half time: 3-0
Whilst there was much to like about the K’s first half display, the same cannot be said of their second half performance.
The K’s were run ragged in the second half as the superior fitness and organisation of Eastleigh told. If it were not for some good saves from Hinds and some poor finishing from the home side, there could have been more than the four goals that were conceded by the K’s in the second half.
Eastleigh’s fourth goal came in the 54th minute. Aaron Lobb’s initial effort was blocked but the ball fell to Jacob Read who fired the ball home.
Eastleigh continued to dominate and they went further ahead in the 65th minute when Jack Adams tapped home the fifth goal.
Aaron Lobb scored a well taken goal in the 71st minute and Jordan Beeke completed the scoring two minutes later with a simple finish.
The K’s posed little threat in the second half. Their brightest moments came when Taylor Green hit a 30-yard drive which Powell punched away and when Rmarni Blankson hit a shot straight at Powell following good work by Nash Doukoure.
