K's defeated by strong Cards
The K’s Academy made a poor start to their first match of 2017 when they were comprehensively beaten by a strong Woking side.
Woking took the lead in the 8th minute through Marco Correia, who converted a cross from the right from Sean Newton.
Woking doubled their lead in the 14th minute when Ivan Nsimbi was given time to turn and shoot powerfully past Ronaldo Cardoso.
Lamar Koruma scored from close range in the 21st minute to give Woking a three goal lead.
Woking continued to dominate and Cardoso made two good saves in the 33rd minute to deny Ivan Nsimbi and Aaron Randall. Randall did manage to get on the scoresheet a minute later though when Billy Simmonds’ clearance off the line fell to him, and he made no mistake slotting home goal number four.
Woking scored a fifth in the 36th minute. An excellent cross from Karuma was met by a firm header from Nsimbi.
The K’s had something to cheer in the 39th minute when they pulled a goal back. In a well worked corner routine, Taylor Green found Thomas Hourigan, who provided a neat finish.
Woking were soon back on the attack and they scored their sixth goal of the afternoon through Lamar Koruma.
Half time: 1-6
Although the K’s performance did improve in the second half, Woking were still very much on top.
Woking should have increased their lead in the 47th minute when Marco Correia was sent clear in a one on one situation but he was denied by Cardoso.
George Isaacs headed home a seventh goal for Woking in the 59th minute and this was followed by a further goal from Ivan Nsimbi who completed his hat-trick in the 66th minute.
There were a few occasions when the K’s managed to create some openings and Bruno Morais went close from one of these in the 68th minute following a good passing move. Earl Coelho De Carvalho also tested Gautam Vyas with a shot in the 80th minute.
The last goal of the game fell to Woking five minutes from time, when Kaley Clarke latched on to a loose pass before advancing on the goal and beating Cardoso.
