Terrors defeat K's Academy in seven goal thriller
The Kingstonian Academy pushed title contenders Tooting and Mitcham all the way in this exciting league encounter.
The home side had the first serious chance of the match, coming in the tenth minute. Charlie Burton-Eaton’s free kick was met by the head of Juan Malagon, who directed his effort straight at the K’s goalkeeper, Ronaldo Cardoso.
The K’s were competing well and Joao Augusto missed a couple of good chances for his side. Telmo Santos also forced a save from Alessandro Moriera in the 21st minute.
Tooting took the lead in the 28th minute. Juan Malagon sent over a low cross from the right to Jamel Robinson-Davids, who placed a low shot past Cardoso.
Tooting doubled their lead just a minute later. Isaiah Jones was fouled by Cardoso inside the penalty area, and the resultant penalty was firmly despatched past Cardoso by Jones himself.
The K’s pulled a goal back in the 31st minute when Lucas Pina’s excellent free kick was headed firmly home by Telmo Santos.
Tim Okello twice went close for Tooting in the latter stages of the first half. The first of those efforts forced a good save from Cardoso, whilst the second went narrowly wide of the post.
