Saints march on past K's
K's Academy lost 7-0 to a strong Southampton (Sparsholt) team who are favourites to win the League.
Giovanni Bent sliced a shot wide early on for the K’s, but most of the action took place inside the K’s half of the field.
However, the K’s managed to hold firm until the 28th minute. They were finally undone when Aaron Nesbeth received the ball in space, advanced on goal, before striking a low shot past Reice Hinds to give his side the lead.
Southampton were unable to extend their lead before half time despite further chances for Adam Grange, Ryan Penny and Aaron Nesbeth, the latter being denied by a good save from Hinds.
Half time: 1-0
Southampton were quickly into their stride in the second half. They doubled their lead in the 50th minute. The K’s defence failed to clear the ball and were duly punished by Ryan Penny who drilled a low shot past Hinds.
Two minutes later, the Saints scored a third when Emmanuel Alli applied the finishing touch to an Adam Grange cross.
Reice Hinds then made a good save from Penny, but was unable to prevent Southampton’s fourth goal which came in the 65th minute. Wayne Ndaremani scored the goal from close range following a cross from a Callum Appleby.
Appleby and Penny both had chances to add to the score before Nesbeth scored the fifth goal in the 72nd minute when his miss-hit effort deceived Hinds.
Callum Appleby was unlucky to see his powerful shot strike the post, but he did get on the score sheet in the 83rd minute when he scored from a penalty.
Adam Grange completed the scoring with a stoppage time goal following a corner.
The K’s rarely threatened the Saints goal, with one or two promising attacks coming to nothing, although Thomas Hourigan did force a save from the keeper from a long range effort.
