K's Academy defeated by Shots
A weakened Kingstonian side were comfortably beaten by their visitors from Aldershot.
The K’s started the match reasonably well and they matched their opponents in the opening quarter of an hour. During this period, they almost snatched the lead when Jozirio Salvador saw his goal bound shot deflected away for a corner.
However, Aldershot took control of the half after they had taken a 19th minute lead through a Matt Bozier free kick.
The lead was increased in the 25th minute when Rory Sellick netted from close range, and a third goal followed five minutes later, when Gilberto Abril evaded a couple of weak challenges before thumping a shot past the K’s stand in goalkeeper, Billy Simmonds.
Josh Johnson tried to redress the balance of the score line in the 31st minute, but having made a good run in behind the Aldershot defence, he sliced his shot wide.
Aldershot then added two goals in quick succession through Luke Williams (36th minute) and Kalum Patrick (38th minute).
Three minutes before half time, the K’s pulled a goal back through Nash Doukoure, who held off a challenge before shooting past Billy Clarke.
Half time: 1-5
Aldershot increased their lead in the 49th minute when Leon Hewitt converted a cross from the right.
Despite that early second half goal for the visitors, the K’s made a better fist of things in this half.
In the 58th minute, Bruno Morais’s pass down the line was latched on to by Josh Johnson, who from a tight angle, hit a shot that was saved by Clarke. Johnson went close again in the 75th minute when from an acute angle, he shot across the face of the goal.
The K’s scored their second of the afternoon in the 80th minute when Josh Johnson laid the ball into the path of Rmarni Blankson who placed a shot past Clarke.
The visitors then gifted the K’s a third goal in the 83rd minute, courtesy of a Guy Blackman own goal.
However, as the game moved into stoppage time, Gilberto Abril capped a decent individual performance by adding two further goals for the visitors.
