K's Academy succumb to spitfire attacks
The K’s Academy opened their new league season by suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of the Eastleigh Whites.
Eastleigh were quickly in to their stride, and the K’s were grateful to their keeper, Zak Orton, who made a fine reflex save in the third minute. He was powerless to stop the away side taking an eighth minute lead, when he was beaten by a powerful low drive from Makai Byrne.
The K’s gradually came back into the match. Bruno Morais and Nash Doukoure combined well to set up a chance for Tom Hourigan. The latter then went close in the 24th minute, when his well struck free kick clattered against the bar.
The K’s efforts to seek parity before half time were undone when they conceded two quick goals in the latter part of the half. Aaron Lobb scored the second goal in the 37th minute, when he touched home a cross from the right. Jack Adams added a third in the 40th minute when his low shot beat Orton.
Half time: 0-3
Zak Orton was called in to action in the 49th minute when he tipped an effort from Byrne over the bar. Shortly after this, Orton was forced to retire from the field injured. This enforced a reshuffle, with central defender, Jack Bradley taking Orton’s place between the posts and Jay Kimoto moving from midfield to replace Bradley at the heart of the defence.
Unfortunately for the K’s, any hopes of comeback were dashed when the Whites punished them with a quick fire four goal salvo. The first of these came in the 61st minute, when Callum Read took advantage of a defensive error to fire home. Tom Bearwish added a fifth goal in the 65th minute, and this was followed by a sixth from Makai Byrne in the 70th minute and a seventh from Aaron Lobb in the 73rd.
Brandon Chebby then scored the game’s final goal with a minute of normal time remaining.
Jay Kimoto was awarded man of the match, having played well in three different positions during the match.
