Ks dig in for away win
Good result away to tough Bedfont side.
Kingstonian Colts went away to Bedfont Eagles with a squad depleted by half-term absences. Sat-nav (or postcode?) issues also meant several players arrived late with little chance to warm up.
Kingstonian made a slow start. Bedfont had a lot of early pressure. A break-away by K’s led to a fine shot from Lucas taking a deflection and put Ks one up. However going in front didn’t really settle Ks down and the next 20 minutes was dominated by the home team, with a powerful performance by their no. 8 in particular. Ks couldn’t get out of their half and Ryan did very well keeping several shots out. The pressure eventually told, Bedfont won a corner and hesitation in the defence led to a strike from 10 yards. 1-1. Bedfont could have had another couple but for more great work by Ryan and some good defending by Callum and Archie in particular. 1-1 at half-time.
Kingstonian were much improved in the second half. Callum made some important tackles and Ks started to get the ball down and play although the final ball never quite went to feet.
10 minutes in, a good interchange of passing between Henry and Lucas led to to an excellent finish by Lucas in the top corner. 2-1 to Kingstonian.
Ks had finally found their rhythm and began to control the game with some slick passing and positive runs from the forwards. Another good move led to Mason receiving the ball on the edge of the box, his chip over the keeper made it 3-1, which was the score at full-time.
A classic game of two halves, with Ks eventually grinding out a good result away from home. They can be pleased with their run of three wins on the spin.
Man of the match was Callum whose dynamic tackling, running and leadership really pulled the team round in the second half.
