Lady Luck Leaves K's Ladies Again
Clapham United do the double against an illness-hit K's side.
The squad was ravaged by illness in the run up to today’s Remembrance Sunday Home match against Clapham United which rather dictated how we could line up.
We actually took the field with an attacking-looking team intent on testing the Clapham goalie. However, Clapham hadn’t read the script and after only five minutes a sloppily lost ball in midfield allowed Clapham in and we found ourselves behind. 0-1.
For the next period of the match we gave as good as we got and had several decent chances, none of which we could take.
With the wind advantage, Clapham came on strong towards half time. We thought we were going to make it to the break with just a one goal deficit, but right on the stroke of half time, we lost the ball again just outside our area, Clapham quickly moved the ball forward, and after a scramble inside our 6 yard box, it ended up in the back of the net. HT 0-2.
We started the second half brightly aiming for a quick reply to make it a contest. However, we couldn’t make our pressure count and, on 60 minutes lady luck deserted us as a Clapham shot cannoned down off the crossbar hitting Ellie Lourdes in goal on her back and rolled into the goal. 0-3.
Clapham played some neat pass-and-move football after that, but we threatened occasionally, and near the end Olivia Watson was unlucky to narrowly miss the target when the ball dropped to her only a few yards out.
Although the manner and timing of the Clapham goals was a bit unlucky, we were second best overall today to a more experienced Clapham team who are riding high in the division. FT 0-3.
