The best way to keep up to date with Kingstonian FC

Ladies Beaten By Strong Godalming Town

9 months ago By Kingstonian FC

A difficult opening day for the ladies, but things will improve.

We had a depleted squad today for our league season’s opener, and it was our misfortune to come up against a powerful Godalming side who will clearly be one of the outstanding teams in the division. The first half saw us trailing 4-0 though we had our spells during the half and were desperately unlucky when, on the stroke of half-time, a shot rebounded back off the post.

A confident Godalming side pressed forward looking for more goals in the second half and soon added to their tally, though again we were having our moments with Eve McBrinn and Mairead Halliday, both in particular, working hard in midfield to keep us in the game. Finally, with a quarter of an hour to play Sophia Demetriou managed to beat the excellent Godalming goalkeeper with a great shot, and the game ended 10-1.

A game to learn from and then quickly forget.
