Kingstonian's season got off to the worst possible start, going down 3-2 at King George's Field to Brightlingsea Regent, and having two men sent off in the process.
Harvey Hodd scored the first of his two goals with a long range shot in the 14th minute, but Louie Theophanous equalised just two minutes later. The Kingstonian defence went absent without leave in the 24th minute allowing Hodd to double his tally with a simple tap in, and the Regent capitalised on more poor defending when Billy Hunt was allowed to score in the 54th minute.
Ugo Udoji needlessly got himself sent off for two bookable offences, the first yellow being unlucky but almost immediately he got involved in a bout of handbags and saw red.
In the 84th minute, the referee gave Kingstonian a penalty for a tug on a shirt, which was converted by substitute Muhammadu Faal, but it was not enough and K's went down to defeat, their opponents Brightlingsea Regent deserving their victory.
The game ended even worse for the K's as in the 92nd minute Elliott Buchanan was sent off for a second bookable offence, the second yellow was for an alleged foul.
K's need to up their game several levels on Tuesday night when they visit newly promoted Potters Bar Town, 7.45pm kick-off.
