"It's not just the Premiership and Football League that were wheeling and dealing yesterday. We have managed to extend Paul Rodgers' loan until January. We have also dual registered creative midfielder Kane Haysman with Chelmsford City. Both are tremendous signings and I'd like to thank Chelmsford manager Rod Stringer for his help and Director Yioryos Vasilaras for signing Kane at 11pm last night in order to make him eligible for tonight's FA Cup tie in which both boys will feature."
Kane began his career with Gillingham, making one appearance for the Gills in April 2013, before having two short spells in the Conference South with Sutton United. After leaving the U's, he joined Eastbourne Borough and last season played for Staines Town and then moved to the Clarets in December 2016.
Paul made his debut for the K's in the victory against Billericay Town on opening day this season. He is a former England youth international who began his career with Arsenal. In 2009 he went on loan with Northampton Town, a move which became permanent at the start of the 2009-10 season. He went on to make 56 appearances for the Cobblers before joining Newport County in 2011, making 37 appearances that season. Since then he has had two spells with Craig Edwards at Billericay Town, and spells with St Neots Town, Farnborough, Bromley and, last season, Bishop’s Stortford before leaving for Chelmsford at the end of the campaign.
