Kingstonian FC is delighted to announce the capture of five players to begin the new season, two of them K's fans will know from last season, and a triumvirate of new guys.
Manolis Gogonas is a definite fan's favourite from last season, being the only outfield player to stay the whole of that strange campaign, and he finished second in the voting for Supporters Club Player of the Year. Mano arrived at K's from Windsor, but he began his career in Greece with Asteras Tripolis and then Panarkadikos before moving to England.
K's manager Leigh Dynan: "I'm delighted to re-sign Mano, he was my player of the year last year, he gives us fantastic energy and work rate in the middle of the park, and is a fantastic lad off the pitch too."
K's director Yioryos Vasilaras: "Re-signing Mano is fantastic news following his impressive displays last season. He's an extremely promising, hard-working player who I'm sure will thrive this season."
Greg Cundle has joined the club on a permanent basis after his loan spell with the K's from Gillingham. Greg is a product of the Gills' youth set-up and signed pro forms with the club in 2015. He made six appearances for Gillingham, scoring once, and has had loan experience with East Grinstead Town, Tilbury, Margate, Billericay Town and Bishop's Stortford before his excellent loan spell with the K's.
Leigh Dynan: "Greg was outstanding for me last season on loan from Gillingham, I've been tracking him upon his release from Gillingham and to finally sign him is fantastic as I believe Greg will return to the professional game at some point. He's a fantastic player and again it shows what we are trying to achieve when we are signing players of the calibre of Greg."
Yioryos Vasilaras: "Similarly to Mano, although Greg was only with us for part of last season from Gillingham, he was great for us. He's technically a fantastic players who I believe will be highly influential this season in our success."
Matt Saunders is an experienced midfield player who has played in the Football League for Dagenham and Redbridge. He joins the K's from Hemel Hempstead Town.
Leigh Dynan: "I'm thrilled to sign Matt - he started off at Fulham before joining Dagenham and Redbridge and playing 41 games in League 2. Since then he's enjoyed spells at Dover Athletic and Aldershot Town in the National League. Signing him is a coup for the club, and I'm delighted to have Matt on board."
Yioryos Vasilaras: "Matt adds real quality to our side, he's played at a fantastic level, he lives locally and has really bought in to what we want to achieve. I'm delighted that we have managed to sign someone of Matt's quality.
Shaun Lucien is an exciting, fast and skilful player who joins the club from St Albans City, though he started pre-season last month with Hampton and Richmond Borough. Shaun played for the Saints for three years, and before that he was at Brentford, Hampton, Uxbridge, Harrow Borough and Wealdstone. Shaun played for the hosts Barawa in the recent ConIFA World Cup held in London, scoring twice in their opening game.
Leigh Dynan: "I'm extremely pleased that I have been able to secure Shaun, he's a really fast, skilful and attacking player who I feel gives us real impetus going forward. Again, he's played at this level and above and he believes in what we want to achieve."
Yioryos Vasilaras: "Delighted that we've secured Shaun, he tore us apart when we played Harrow Borough at the Kingsmeadow a few years ago - I believe that he'll become a fans' favourite as he's exciting to watch and highly skilful."
Last, but absolutely not least, Freddy Moncur joins us from Wingate and Finchley. A product of the West Ham United youth system, he joined Leyton Orient in 2015 and made nine appearances for them. He had loan spells with Wingate and Finchley (scoring on debut for them against K's in the League Cup Semi-Final that we went on to win on penalties) and Bishop's Stortford, before leaving Leyton Orient in February 2018, joining Wingate and Finchley on a permanent basis.
Leigh Dynan: "Freddy is someone that's been on my radar, I watched him a number of times last year. I believe he has real quality, I'm genuinely excited about working with Freddy to develop his game even further, as I believe he will return to the Football League again having experienced being a pro already. I'm delighted to sign him."
Yioryos Vasilaras: "Freddy is someone we identified as a target last season. He's a fantastic talent from a great footballing family (his dad John played for Tottenham, Swindon and most notably West Ham), again I believe that Freddy will become a fans' favourite. He has energy and skill and adds to an already talented midfield. I'm thrilled that we have finally secured Freddy and look forward to him being part of our success moving forward."
